    Short version: QuitWits tracks only the time you spend on selected social media sites — locally in your browser. Nothing leaves your device. We don't collect, store, or sell personal data.
  

1. Who We Are

QuitWits is a Chrome browser extension designed to interrupt mindless doom scrolling on social media. This Privacy Policy explains how the extension handles your data.

2. What Data We Collect

QuitWits collects the following data locally on your device:

Time-on-site data: How long you have been active on a tracked domain (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, Reddit, TikTok) in the current browser session.
User settings: Your configured thresholds (interrupt after, snooze duration, etc.) saved in chrome.storage.local.
Message cache: A local cache of display messages fetched from our Supabase database, stored with a 24-hour TTL to reduce network requests.

We do not collect:

The content of pages you visit
Your search queries or browsing history
Any personally identifiable information (name, email, account details)
Any data from sites other than the tracked domains listed above

3. How We Use Your Data

All time-on-site data is used solely to determine when to show the interruption overlay. This data:

Never leaves your device
Is stored in chrome.storage.session and cleared when your browser session ends
Is never transmitted to our servers or any third party

4. Third-Party Services

Supabase: QuitWits fetches display messages from a Supabase database. This is a read-only request. No personal data, browsing history, or identifiable information is sent to Supabase. The only data transmitted is a request for a random set of messages.

We do not use advertising networks, analytics platforms, or data brokers.

5. Chrome Web Store User Data Policy

The use of information received from Chrome browser APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. Data Retention

Session tracking data is cleared automatically when your browser session ends. User settings persist in chrome.storage.local until you uninstall the extension or manually clear it. The message cache expires after 24 hours.

7. Your Rights

You can clear all locally stored extension data at any time by going to chrome://extensions, finding QuitWits, and clicking "Clear data". Uninstalling the extension removes all associated storage.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the extension evolves. Material changes will be noted in the Chrome Web Store listing and in the extension changelog. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
